My family LOVED Norway, and I am dreaming of our next trip back to explore more!!
Norway is one of those vacation destinations that feels almost magical—especially when traveling with kids. With its dramatic fjords, sparkling waterfalls, and storybook villages, it looks like something straight out of a fairytale. What makes Norway even more appealing for families is its balance of adventure and ease: it’s one of the world’s wealthiest countries, and unlike many parts of Europe, it isn’t crowded, so you’ll often find yourselves surrounded by wide-open spaces and breathtaking wilderness.
Families often come to Norway to sail through its scenic fjords, take gentle hikes to jaw-dropping viewpoints, or ride on world-famous trains that feel like an adventure all on their own (kids love the twists and tunnels!). Oslo, the capital, offers museums, interactive attractions, and plenty of family-friendly dining, but once you head out into the countryside, Norway feels like one of Europe’s last great frontiers—safe, welcoming, and filled with natural wonders that children of all ages can enjoy.
If you’re looking to mix in even more variety, it’s also easy to combine Norway with nearby Denmark and Sweden. A few days in Copenhagen for amusement parks and castles or a stop in Stockholm with its island-hopping ferries can round out your family’s Scandinavian adventure perfectly.
